The last grandslam of the year is approaching. Lets look at the draw of the U.S. Open
I Quarter - Serena Williams' quarter - No doubt Serena is going to make her way through this draw. No major threats lay in her path. However her first round match seems to be very interesting. But she will win. The other matches in this part of the draw are very interesting. Flipkens and Venus, Kerber and Hradecka are good matches to watch.
II Quarter - Agnieszka Radwanska's quarter
Radwanka and Li always find each other in the quarter finals of the big events. the U S open this year is no exception. Both these girls are in good form, and they are expected to play each other in the quarters. However, they have to overcome big players in the form of Jankovic and Lisicki. Lisicki beat Radwanska at Wimbledon. Jankovic is playing very well off late. No doubt this is the most toughest section of the entire ladies draw.
III Quarter - Sara Errani's Quarter
I dont know if i can actually hand Errani her own draw, but with Sharapova's retirement, she becomes the 4th seed. This quarter is the weakest and I wouldn't be surprised if new players emerge. I fancy Wozniacki's chances here. Kuznetsova is also another former champion to watch out for. But watch out for few surprising results!
IV Quarter - Victoria Azarenka's Quarter
Azarenka is the overwhelming favorite in this quarter. Basically no one has the ability to stop her, but her threats may come in the form of Stosur or Kvitova in the 4th round. Kvitova has a very tough draw and i think she will struggle. Ivanovic could pose some problems to the Belarussian, but I don't see anyone beating Azarenka.
QUARTER FINAL PREDICTIONS
I - Serena vs Kanepi (Serena in 2 sets)
II - Radwanska vs Li (Radwanska in 3 tight sets, probably best match of the tournament that is if both get there)
III- Wozniacki vs Halep (Wozniacki in 2 tight sets)
IV - Azarenka vs Kvitova (Azarenka in 2 sets)
SEMIFINAL
I - Serena vs Radwanska (Serena in 3)
II - Azarenka vs Wozniacki (Azarenka in 2 tight sets)
FINALS
Serena vs Azarenka (Serena in 3 tight sets, both have a 50 -50 chance, because Azarenka has won both their previous 2 hardcourt meeting, but Serena has the big match experience)
