WTA 2013 Cincinnati draw analysis

12/08/2013 04:30

First of all hello! I have started this website to analyse the wta draws and predict the week's winner based on past performances and their current form.

As the WTA moves from Toronto to Ohio, the competation just gets better and better. Serena proved why she is  the number one in the world overpowering her opponents. We also saw how Sorana Cirstea destroy former World no. 1's and Grand slam champions before she ended up getting destroyed the amazing Serena. So the question is - Will Serena continue her dominance or will or will the likes of Sharapova and Azarenka disturb her rhythm. Here is the analysis of the draw.

I Quarter - I don't see any other name in this section apart from SERENA WILLIAMS. Going by the form that she is in, she is surely the favorite in this half. Maria Kirilenko would be the first big player Serena could play, but, going by Kirilenko's poor run of form lately, definately an upset alert. Oh wait not Serena, but i think it will be Kirileko. Barthel probably will be the one who may take her out. Sam Stosur has found some rhytm after winning in Carlsbad, but she has a tough match against Kuznetsova. I think the Wimbledon champ may struggle because she had to withdraw from Toronto due to an injury therefore Halep may benefit from this. To round off I think the Q.F. will be SERENA WILLIAMS V SAMANTHA STOSUR/SIMONA HALEP.

II Ouarter - Agnieszka is after all a human being, and i think fatigue may play a part in the Pole's conquest in cinci. But again she has proved all her critiques wrong by playing week in and week out and achieving good success. But she has a tough draw. Venus, Pennata, Flipkens and Lepchenko all can trouble her. But I think Radwanska has enough steam to win her way through. Kerber and Li  have a lot of points to defend here. Last year they met in the final and Li won. But this year they may meet very early. No player I think can cause an upset here. But one has to be vary of Anastasia Pavyluchenkova, who by the way made it to the Q.F. last year. Q.F. - AGNIESZKA RADWANSKA V LI NA

III Quarter - Maria Sharapova is playing her first tournament after her second round loss at Wimbledon. She may play Stephens first and Sloane can upset her, provided she wins her first match. However, I think she may just trouble her, probably two tight sets. But the going gets tough for Sharapova from there on because she may play Lisicki in the 3rd round. Lisicki hasn't played since her heartbreaking loss at Wimbledon. I would love to see Andrea Petkovic win a couple of matches. She may get through Hantuchova but may fall to Vinci. However it can be the other way around. Errani sits on top of this section and probably be eliminated soon if she would end up facing an in form Cibulkova(Upset alert). Q.F. - DOMINIKA CIBULKOVA VS MARIA SHARAPOVA.

IV Quarter - Azarenka did not play in Toronto, but i think she will be ready for Cinci. She has a pretty 'okay' path to the quarters, but there are a few names that can catch her by surprise. Rybarikova and Ivanovic have created a decent form off late  and can push the World number 2. I especially favor Ivanovic, who is looking very confident. Petra Kvitova has a good record this year against better players in the world, but when she plays any one outside the top 20, she looks so sloppy. With her abilities, she can beat any one on any day, but as of now it is no where to be seen. Sorana Cirstea may play her again, this time I think Kvitova will be ready. Wozniacki and Peng match up looks good. Cirstea may meet wozniacki in the 3rd round. Lets see what happens this time. This section I think is wide open and depends purely on Kvitova's state of mind. Q.F. - VICTORIA AZARENKA VS PETRA KVITOVA(simply because of her high rank)

SEMI FINALS -     SERENA WILLIAMS vs LI NA ( Serena wins in 2 tight sets)

MARIA SHARAPOVA vs VICTORIA AZARENKA (Azarenka in 3 sets)

FINALS -             SERENA WILLIAMS vs VICTORIA AZARENKA

(SERENA WILLIAMS wins in 2 tight sets).

So lets see what happens!
